TAAF (French Southern and Antarctic Lands)

Terres australes et antarctiques françaises (TAAF) is a French territory that consists of islands in the Indian Ocean and the French claim in Antarctica : Adélie Land. The main French research base in the Antarctic is Dumont d'Urville Station: a year round research base with a summer population of 110. And of course, they have a postmaster. Philatelic covers can be sent to the base and the postmaster will postmark them and mail them back to you. Addresses can be found here

TAAF postmaster provides very reliable philatelic services. All of their postmasters make excellent hand stamps. I don't think I've ever had a cover come back to me from any TAAF location that was not perfectly postmarked. You have to use TAAF stamps on mail leaving Dumont d'Urville, just like all of the other TAAF regions. TAAF stamps are normally produced at the start of each year with a few additional issues throughout the year.
